Curators of The Forest & the Sea

It has been our joyful desire to spread generous hospitality to those around us.  A living room for good conversation, good music, good friends, and a cup full of good coffee.

We see this as an extension and overflow of our own home, and hope that all who visit will feel welcomed to do the same.

known.

a place to belong.

None of us was ever meant to journey through this life alone.  That is not the Way God, the Creator, made us to be human.  By His design, we are all made for community.  We need each other and this is "very good".  If there is one thing along this journey through the wilderness world that we have learned, it is how much we all need each other.

Our heart is to create a safe place for weary souls to gather together simply to slow down, disconnect from media, reconnect with neighbors and friends and family across the table.  As one has said well, we hope that strangers will become friends and friends will, in time, become family.  The forest & the sea is more than a cafe, it is a place to come, to be, to belong, and to be long.  Quoting a famous TV theme song, it is our hope that this cafe will become a "place where everyone knows your name and their very glad you came."

taste and see.

the goodness and closeness of His Gospel.

The limitless, moment by moment Hospitality of God toward His creatures (as seen from the forest to the sea) is a very sure sign of His mercy and grace toward us.  He feeds us, clothes us, gives us our very next breath.  The Father of Lights withholds no good thing from His children.

His greatest demonstration of Love was when He gave His Son to do for us what we could not, and would not do for ourselves.  In Christ He is now inviting the world to His Table; it is at that Table (yet to come) that the Celebration unlike any celebration we have ever tasted will be fully Realized.  We see ourselves as ones setting tables in the wilderness as a way of preparing for that Great Day.  We invite all to come and to taste and see the goodness of God here (in this world) and in the new world to come.

more than just a cup of coffee

As small batch artisan coffee roasters, we are committed to giving more than just a cup of great coffee.  Loneliness, depression, and deep groaning of soul seems to be a worldwide reality for many.  We have tasted this in many painful ways; we have seen it's results along the journey.  We have known many who have been and are being crushed.  We have known the suicidal and remember those who have ended it all, leaving behind more pain and loneliness, depression, and groaning.

This is our attempt to disrupt the cycle, one cup at a time.

We are committed to invest our lives and our resources in those who are laboring to love the poor, the broken-hearted, the downcast and the outcast, the lonely and forgotten.  We exist to bring light into dark caves; to share the comfort we are tasting with those in need of hope and comfort in this seemingly "dark, wet, miserable world."  May God help us!
